Philosophy of Teaching

Picture
My philosophy of education is very simple: educate students in mind, body, and spirit.  First and foremost students must be mentally stimulated. Through my teaching styles I want students learning critical thinking skills.  If students are simply learning information and not applying their knowledge towards a clear purpose then as an educator I am failing.  As a basis for the mental aspect of education I center my strategies around Bloom's Taxonomy.  The second part of my philosophy is enriching students' bodies.  I want students in any class regardless of the subject to learn the value in taking care of their body.  If a student commits to a regular work out routine this will undoubtedly help them academically.  Moreover this will improve their self esteem and image.  Depression is a major problem in youths today.  Helping students maintain physical fitness is a valuable part of the education process.  The spirit is the most important element in a liberal education.  In all my classes I try to instill moral and ethical ideas into the students.  In today's pluralisic society many ideas exist on what is right and wrong.  Students must develop in their spirit solid core values and beliefs.  Presenting students with moral principles is a focal point of my curriculum.
